Hayley G Hoover is one of the popular kids, there’s no denying that. Some may accredit her YouTube celebrity status to the fiveawesomegirls project, or hardcore rap battles with YouTubers who are even more popular than her, or even our brief, fake marriage on Facebook.
But it’s none of those things.
No, Hayley is popular because she’s not afraid to be herself in her videos, and the rest of us fakers admire that. All too often our influences show through in the original work we create. vlogbrothers and zefrank. fallofautumndistro and nalts. shanedawson and chriscrocker.
But Hayley’s videos are her own, and have remained unchanged for the past two years. Consistency is the hobgoblin of other YouTube channels, so, watch out other YouTube channels!
Hayley also writes an intriguing blog where, again, she hides behind no facade. For someone who started and grew their blog while in high school, that takes guts. Most high school girls wouldn’t openly admit that their love for Justin Timblerlake is so great that they secretly think of him while with their current boyfriendishthings. Or keep an annual ‘burritos eaten’ count anywhere public enough that the other girls in their class could see it.
The rest of us can only inspire to be that open and honest with our own blogs.
Finally, there’s her "leave them wanting more" factor. While most YouTube celebrities spend 25 hours a day online, tweeting in your ear, skyping like it’s going out of style, and live-broadcasting their every meal on blogtv… a Hayley sighting on any of these sites is rarer than a photo of the Yeti. Sure, if you search hard enough online, you might find something from a few years ago, but that’s only if you’re lucky. If you want to be the talk of the room every time you’re op’ed, all you have to do is only show up once a year. The "leave them wanting more" factor is a powerful device that should only be attempted by those who’ve mastered the rest of the above first.
So, there it is. Don’t be intimidated; Hayley’s just like you. But, you know, better. She’s worked hard to gain the audience that she has through brutal honesty and unmatched creativity. And she continues to work hard, gaining more subscribers than she loses, each and every day.
Plus, being cute doesn’t hurt.

Oh alan I think you have hit the hammer on the nail here. Honestly this is all obviously true. I will not joke, Hayley and her style and wit and admiratious in total is a great inspiration for me personally.

Excellent observations. Hayley really is a creative goddess and I want to be her when I grow up.
I think you're a little bit confused with the whole Justin Timberlake thing. Whenever she mentions JT, she's actually talking about her ex-boyfriend. I guess she does that so her blog readers won't be able to find him and hurt him terribly, for we all understand how big a jerk he actually is, and how much he's hurt Hayley.
But I agree with you in everything else about her.
Of course that doesn't fit so well in this raving review of her, so you could have made the decision to leave it out.

You make amazing videos Alan, and you are clearly an intelligent, talented, funny guy, but if you were as good-looking as, say, sxephil, DaveDays, or...er...*checks most-subscribed* makemebad35 (who the hell is that?) you would have twice the amount of subscribers. Maybe even more.

Alan is not an ugly person, and thats quite frankly a horrible thing to say.
I think "ugly" can be overcome, and that it's clearly subjective, as I find sxephils closing to to be quite accurate, he's not sexy, he's sxe.

Hayley and her whit are as notorious as Tupac. She's also as cute as one person can possibly be.
